I found the best Asian dessert in New York City! Located in Koreatown, Grace Street has a variety of desserts and drinks. The initial reason this place was on my list of must visits was because I wanted a bear matcha latte. Read on to find out if I got my cute latte art dream and why Grace Street blew me away.

Grace Street was pretty busy when we arrived on a weekend night – giving us the affirmation that we made the right decision in coming. I didn’t realize it until later, but their Instagram feed is filled with famous faces like Jeremy Lin, Chriselle Lim, and Ted from Wongfu! The menu had a variety of items to suit everyone’s sweet tooth from shaved snow to waffles.

What We Ordered

So what do I recommend getting at the best Asian dessert place in New York City? My personal favourite, which was highly recommended on Yelp, was the hodduk. It is a Korean pancake filled with cinnamon, brown sugar, and walnut. Cut up in smaller pieces and great for sharing, it comes with ice cream! I was extremely happy to have it paired with the perfect matcha latte (though not a bear since it was so busy).

The Space

Grace Street has a vast amount of seating. The space itself is beautiful with high ceilings and an innovative wooden wall. In addition, photographs captured from a missionary trip cover the walls, serving as a reminder that we are called to make disciples of all nations. After realizing that the owners were Christian, I have a new appreciation for the name: Grace Street.

Using the phrase “by Grace Street” (for the website and Instagram), Grace Street reminds me of Ephesians 2:8-10:

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Though I didn’t end up getting the bear latte art, I still really enjoyed Grace Street and look forward to coming back next time I’m in town! Visiting the city that never sleeps? Be sure to eat the best Asian dessert in New York City! See our travel guide for more food and attractions.
