Visitors | November 25
In the past week, I’ve gotten 2 visitors. The first was my sister, who came for a weekend. We explored a couple restaurants and she helped me a little with setting up my place. I took her to my new-found favourite café and studio. It was a short and sweet trip. Seeing her leave was the hardest part of it all.
After having the house to myself for a day, my second visitor arrived! It was American Thanksgiving, so she came with a friend. It was nice to have some extra bodies in the house and people to have breakfast and dinner with. They explored the tourist attractions on their own and I took them to the places that we couldn’t reach without a car.
It was so nice to have extra company for the week, but now seems very empty.
The First Call | November 27
After moving across the country, I’ve been feeling nervous and insecure about losing the people I love back home. I knew I would need to try really hard to keep those relationships despite the distance. To make that extra time for each other, especially with the time difference.
I scheduled a video call with one of my closest friends. It was so nice chatting with her, and very encouraging to be reassured that we’re still close. I hope this is the start of many more!
