Edit: Funky Munky has now closed
Markham, land of the bubble tea shops, has finally gotten a cafe! Like its name implies, Funky Munky is the definition of funky. Serving both pressed coffee and bubble tea, this Markham cafe has something for everyone. Though there’s no espresso drinks, they have strongly caffeinated drinks such as their cafe au lait and black tea based FM classic/style tea. I would highly recommend adding the tapioca and trying the special(s) of the week, which usually comes with a discount!
The decor of the place is beautiful and carefully curated to a retro theme. It offers a great atmosphere and even better ambiance in the evening when the string lights come on. The owner has strived to make this place comfortable for all from acquiring a new change table for parents to hosting a number of weekly events.
Events that Funky Munky has held include Thursday Trivia/BYOBoard Games, Monday Movie Night, and Sunday car meets. Located at 16th and Markham Main Street, it’s the perfect destination for catching up with a friend or grabbing something to go!
