Germany in a Week: Munich

Germany in a Week Munich

Last stop of our Germany in a Week series: Munich. In retrospect, Munich was actually just as short of a trip as Cologne – I was only there for two nights. In both cities, I didn’t focus on a culinary experience because it was such a short trip and there were so many things I wanted to see!

I really only had a day in Munich since I arrived in the evening and left at noon. I made the most of my day and started early. I decided a bike tour would be the best way to see the city, so on the night I arrived, I booked an afternoon tour with Mike’s Bike Tours.

Once I looked into the bike route that the tour took, I found a couple other places I wanted to see. So I started my morning early and headed to Marienplatz to explore the central square. I started with the Frauenkirche and headed up the Dome for a view of the square. One of my favourite things on trips is viewing the city from up top.

Following the Franuekirche, I took a walk around St. Peter’s Church before stopping by the Viktualienmarkt for a quick snack. The Viktualienmarkt has a beer garden located right in the middle, which is definitely worth a visit. Since the bike tour included a stop at a beer garden, I opted not to stop and headed to the BMW Welt.

If you’re a lover of cars, the BMW Welt is a great stop to make. You’ll get a chance to see the new cars up close. You can also make a stop at the museum to see a history of the cars.

After that, I wanted to walk around the park a little since the weather was beautiful. By chance, I stumbled across a Star Wars exhibit and I just couldn’t resist. If you’re ever interested in checking out the Star Wars Identities Exhibition, check on their website for the next location.

By the time I finished the exhibit, it was time for the bike tour. If you’re ever in Munich and are looking for a guided tour, I highly recommend going with Mike’s Bike Tours.

And that wraps up Germany in a Week and my short stay in Munich! I will definitely be back to see more of the city. Missed our other stops? Adventure with us to Berlin and Cologne.
